Natural Ways to Boost your Immune System

In the wake of this deadly Coronavirus, people are looking for ways to stay safe. First, make sure you are spiritually strong, as viruses attack the body energetically as well as physically. It is important for us to not be in fear of the Coronavirus or any infectious disease. What we need to do is strengthen our immune system. Many diseases are caused by a failure of the immune system and our inability to control viruses that hide out in our bodies. Diseases of the thyroid, pancreas, and some liver diseases for example are now thought to be caused by latent viruses. Here are some natural and cost-effective ways to boost your immune system to not only fight viruses, but to maintain long-term health.

Note: I am not a licensed health professional, and I am not giving medical advice. All items in this article have not been examined by the FDA so use your best judgement. This is simply a personal recommendation from a layperson, as I have personally tried all of the products listed in this article, and found them to be beneficial to my own health.

Colloidal Silver

This is the most effective virus, bacteria, and fungus kicking substance I have ever come across. My naturopath gave this to me and I haven’t had a cold, flu, or sinus infection since I have started using it. Colloidal Silver is amazing because it’s so renewable—its just suspended silver particles in purified water. It has the consistency of water and doesn’t really taste like anything. It can be used topically and internally—but it’s important not to take too much. Check in with a natural health or medical provider before taking internally and especially if you are taking other conventional medications.

How to Use Colloidal Silver

Some people take it everyday to boost their immune system. I however, only use it when I have been in the presence of sick people, smelled viral energy (yes, I can do this), or if I feel like I’m coming down with something. I spray into both nostrils taking very deep breaths, making sure the mist gets into my sinus cavity and lungs. I rinse my mouth for 15 seconds, gargle the back of my throat to make sure no pathogens attach there, and I ingest one teaspoon. Every time I have done this, I noticed an almost immediate suspension of my cold and flu symptoms. I am not a doctor and I am not saying that Colloidal Silver is a cure for anything–I am simply reporting my own personal findings, and the anecdotal reports of other people I know who use it. I cannot guarantee what effect it will have on you, if any.

Elderberry

This is a Native American remedy that has been around for years. It comes in the form of syrups, extracts, tinctures or teas. You can buy Elderberry syrup almost anywhere—I even saw it at Hy-Vee this fall. As far as I know, Elderberry products are safe to use every day throughout “cold & flu” season. I make a large batch of Elderberry syrup and share with family and friends–it’s delicious!

Echinacea

This herb is a great way to give your immune system a boost—it helps your body create more white blood cells. It can be taken daily for a few months out of the year. I recommend going to an herbalist or health & wellness store to buy your herbs in bulk and or to get a product recommendation: Echinacea Purporea or Echinacea Angustifolia are the varieties typically used for medicinal use, but the jury’s kind of out on whether it’s the leaves, flowers, or the root parts that give the best bang for your immune-fighting buck.

Goldenseal

Mostly known as a blood purifier (my friends used to take it in college to help them pass drug tests) it is also a great ally to have if you’ve contracted something. As far as I am aware, it’s not really fit to take daily to prevent cold & flu—it’s more effective if you take it when you feel you are getting sick or was around someone who was sick. It helps control the immune response to the invasion of pathogens so that symptoms don’t get out of hand. Sometimes our body overreacts resulting in inflammation—the symptoms of cold and flu are not what the virus is doing to us, but rather how our body responds to its presence. This is where Goldenseal shines! Take until symptoms start to wane, then stop.

Vitamin C and Zinc

Vitamin C & Zinc are tried and true ways to boost the immune system. They are both relatively inexpensive and easy to find. Don’t cheap out on the supplements you buy. Not every vitamin supplement is created in a form that is well-absorbed by the body. Supplements made from whole foods tend to have higher absorption rates than synthetically made vitamins–especially if other phytonutrients (natural substances found in the fruit or vegetables that the vitamin or mineral is derived from) are present. Talk with your natural health care provider for recommendations.

Homeopathic Remedies

If you’re lucky enough to be treated by a classical homeopath, cold & flu season could be a breeze for the rest of your days! Your remedy is matched to your body chemistry and can help your body with a myriad of issues, including infections. If you have a personalized remedy, take it if you come down with something—it will help. Otherwise, there are great homeopathic remedies you can get from your local health and wellness store, or products like ZiCam are available over the counter at drugstores and major retails chains. I used ZiCam for years before I discovered Colloidal Silver or classical homeopathy. It works very well as long as you take them within 24 hours of your first sign of symptoms—the sooner the better.

Get Some Rest

Lack of sleep is really hard on the body and lowers your immune system’s ability to respond. If you’re not getting enough sleep it’s time for a lifestyle change. Your health depends on it…

Drink More Water

Most Americans are chronically dehydrated. Pathogens can wreak more havoc in a dehydrated body than one that is properly hydrated. Make sure you are drinking around 64 ounces of water a day. Drink the highest quality water you can, and make sure that water is properly mineralized. I recommend spring water. Purified water is very clean but it is demineralized. Tap water is mineralized but its devoid of life force energy and has harmful fluoride and other toxic chemicals.

Avoid Stress

Stress is a slow, silent, killer of man. It greatly diminishes your immune response and overall organ functioning. It also creates holes in your energy field which makes you susceptible to energetic toxins and negative energy. If you are under chronic stress it’s time to reevaluate your relationships and lifestyle. Do not take this lightly.

Get Some Sun

We all need Life Force Energy to be emotionally, mentally, and spiritually healthy. Get outside to take advantage of the Sun and Earth’s energy. Don’t underestimate the huge boost that sitting or walking in nature can do for your immune system. It’s free and it works!
